The quality of the tournament polo played at the Beaufort is very high and exciting. It includes the highest handicap tournament in the world outside Argentina:- The Argentine Club Cup. Matches are played from April to September and are a great day out. The tented village has shopping for everyone, amusment rides for the children plus the polo match itself, fast moving action from start to finish and stamp in the divots between chukkas.

Cirencester Park offers one of the most packed fixtures lists of all the clubs, with matches almost every week from April to September and a full diary of social occasions as well.

Walking

The Cotswold Way Walk

The Cotswold Way is a famous hike along the western escarpment of the Cotswolds from Chipping Campden in the north, to Bath in the south. It was designated a National Trail in 1998 and covers 102 miles from start to finish.

The recommended walking stages are as follow:-

  1. Chipping Campden to Broadway (6 miles) or to Winchcombe (18 miles).
  2. Winchcombe to Dowdswell Reservoir, Cheltenham (12 miles).
  3. Cheltenham to Painswick (17 miles).
  4. Painswick to Uley (17 miles).
  5. Uley to Hawksbury Upton (17 miles).
  6. Hawksbury Upton to Cold Aston (16 miles).
  7. Cold Aston to Bath (9miles)

Cycling is a great way to soak up the true atmosphere of the Cotswolds beautiful countryside and idyllic villages, not to mention the lazy lunches at the wayside inns.

There are many published routes and designated trails to help you feel confident in exploring Gloucestershire by bike including

The Stroud Valleys Pedestrian Cycle Trail which runs from Stonehouse to Nailsworth along a disused railway line. This 6 mile route offers safe cycling with level gradients and several access points.
